To Japan and Back- How a Corner of Guernsey Turned Japanese ( A Celebration of Japanese Culture)
Friday 24 May to Sunday 8 September
This colourful and enlightening exhibition promises to be a feast for the eyes.
Some of the fascinating objects on display relate to Saumarez Park and the Japanese House and Temple which once stood there. Visitors can view partial replicas from these buildings and marvel at some original artefacts that were once to be found there.
Items for the display have been provided by the Museum and an amazing private collection. A host of other stunning examples of the decorative arts of Japan have also been kindly loaned by other island collectors.
In tandem is an exhibition in the Guernsey Arts Commission's greenhouse gallery at Guernsey Museum which showcases the beautiful painted and printed art of Japan, featuring works from both the museum as well as another stunning private collection. Both these exhibitions will be linked together by a colourful and stimulating display about Japanese Manga and Anime.
