Access & special needs

A Memory Box session in action

Guernsey Museums and Galleries is committed to making its sites as accessible and inclusive as possible for all of our visitors.

Due to the nature of historic buildings, please be aware that some of our sites were built for defensive purposes and can pose problems for people with limited mobility. If you look after anyone who might have difficulty accessing our sites, please contact us to discuss options.  We welcome enquiries.

Assistance dogs are welcome at all our sites but we do not accept other pets.  We ask that assistance dogs wear the appropriate tabards or harness, so our staff know that they are working animals.  If you are in any doubt about bringing your assistance dog, please contact us for more information on (+44) 01481 226518 or museums@gov.gg.

Our four venues have all been fully audited by AccessAble and you can click on the links below for detailed information about access, parking, toilets, background music and more:

These sites can only be accessed by a flight of stairs. The interiors and exteriors include uneven surfaces, steps and staircases.

What is the policy for charging visitors with a disability - and their carers?

If a visitor with a disability has an essential companion, we operate a 'carer goes free' policy at our sites.    If they wish to, the person with a disability could purchase our best value ticket The Discovery Pass for £20.

Do you belong to a group for people with disabilities?  Please contact our Access & Learning team to discuss options for group visits.  You can contact us via museums@gov.gg or (+44) 01481 226518.  Visits for these groups can be planned to your requirements and arranged out-of-hours.

For more information, please contact us.  We do welcome enquiries and pre-bookings, no matter how small your group.
