About the Work
This painting captures the essence of a storm, with its dark menacing sea and sky. Tom Wright has a very particular method of working. He primarily works from memories and, being a keen sailor, these often relate to the sea. This results in paintings that have a dreamy surreal feel to them.
Here the creative process involves not just sight but also sound. The music accompanying the artwork has been composed by the artist as a direct response to the memories and emotions used within the painting itself.
